Melilli is a hilltop town with a Norman castle, a Baroque fountain, a Greek fountain, a library, a theater and several churches, such as San Sebastiano, SantโAntonio Abate and Santa Maria dellโIsola.The town also has a necropolis, a quarry, and a natural reserve.
Melilli was settled by the Greeks and was part of the colony of Megara Hyblaea.
It was ruled by the Romans, the Byzantines, the Arabs, the Normans, the Swabians, the Angevins, the Aragonese and the Bourbons. It was part of the Kingdom of Sicily and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
