Garlenda is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Savona, Liguria, located about 80 kilometres (50 miles) southwest of Genoa.Garlenda is a small town with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. The area was first settled by the Ligurians, an ancient Italic people, and later came under the control of the Roman Empire. During the medieval period, Garlenda was part of the Marquisate of Finale, a feudal state ruled by the Malaspina family. In the 16th century, the town came under the influence of the Republic of Genoa. Over the centuries, Garlenda has maintained its rural character, with a local economy focused on agriculture and small-scale manufacturing. Today, the town is known for its well-preserved historic center and its annual vintage car rally, the Garlenda Historic Grand Prix.
